Monday at the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ sees star-studded squads England and Belgium make their tournament debuts across all of TSN’s platforms.

England kicks off its campaign against Tunisia at 2 p.m. ET on TSN. As opposed to past years where England has failed to live up to lofty expectations set for them by fans and media alike, there seems to be more realistic expectations being placed on the team this time around. With lowered expectations, it begs asking whether England is being underrated.

"I don't know about underrated but there's no doubt about it that Gareth Southgate [England's manager] has done a good job of managing expectations through this tournament," TSN World Cup Analyst Steven Caldwell said. The exciting thing about this tournament is that England has this youthfulness to them and could if they have a decent tournament, progress into other tournaments with some kind of momentum.

"They're not underrated because I think obviously the expectations have been set low for a reason. Successes have been difficult in this tournament for England," TSN World Cup Analyst Kristian Jack said. "England has been placed in a rather comfortable group that people in England expect them to get through. I think that's fair, and after that we'll have to see what they do in the knockout stages."

Belgium takes on Panama at 11 a.m. ET on TSN, and similarly to England, Belgium is another star studded team that in the past has failed to deliver on the World Cup stage. Could this be year that it breaks through?

"Much like England, people will think that Belgium can get through the group," Jack said. "We might not find out about the Belgium squad for a few weeks. The knockout stage will ultimately define them, but when you've got Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard playing on the same team and playing in a system that works well for them that might be half off the battle.

"Belgium has so many fantastic players that everybody's excited to see how far they can go," Caldwell said. They're going to be tested at a later stage and we're going to have the question answered on their mentality and if they're ready for this kind of stage. I think they still have some issues at their centre of defence. With Vincent Kompany's fitness, they're going to need him if they're going to be successful through this. But through the group, I think they're going to have more than enough to get through and progress to the last 16."

Day 5 coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ begins at 8 a.m. ET with Sweden taking on the Korea Republic. All three of Monday’s games can be seen on the TSN Network, streaming on TSN.ca and TSN Direct.
