The reigning European League Championship Series champions can hold on to their title a little longer.

G2 Esports cruised past Splyce in four games to claim the EU LCS Summer Split title, their second straight split championship, and an automatic berth as the top European seed at the World Championships.

The team did not look the same coming into the summer after a roster reshuffle that saw them pick up former Origen stars and arguably the most dominant bottom lane in Europe, Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen and Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodriguez.

The two dominated their positions in the final as Splyce needed an otherworldly performance from Martin “Wunder” Hansen to eke out their only win of the series in Game 2. Wunder has been one of Splyce’s most consistent weapons over the split at put together a 5/0/15 scoreline on Shen to put his club on the board.

But the defending champs could not be solved on Sunday in Poland.

Game 1 was controlled by Dae-han "Expect" Ki on Gangplank and Kim “Trick” Gang-yun on Grags. The two finished with 5/1/8 and 1/1/11 scorelines to give G2 the early series lead.

After giving a game back to Splyce, G2 turned up the heat and steamrolled their way to victory in Game 3.

Game 4 was even more decisive as G2 opened with a three quick for first blood 12 minutes into the match. Splyce’s base began to fall by 20 minutes and the match and series was over just after 30 minutes.

G2 would have qualified for Worlds regardless of the result and will now be joined by H2k-Gaming after the victory.
