The Montreal Impact have acquired Uruguayan international midfielder Alejandro Silva, following a permanent transfer from his Argentine club, CA Lanus.

Silva has signed a three-year deal with the club, running until December 2020.

Once the midfielder has his medical and international transfer certificate, he will be able to join the team.

"Alejandro is a right-sided attacking player with a lot of experience playing in South America," said technical director Adam Braz. "He will add a different dimension to the attack and will help improve the overall quality and depth of the team. His versatility on the field is very positive in that he can also play as a central midfielder. We are in discussions with other clubs regarding specific players that Rémi has identified and we are hopeful that we can conclude certain moves in the not so distant future."

The 28-year-old has spent the last five years with Club Atletico Lanus, recording 10 goals and eight assists in 58 games.

Silva has won the 2016 Superliga, 2016 Copa Bicentenario and the 2016-17 Supercopa Argentina.
