ORLANDO, Fla. - Jeremy Lin had 17 points, Jeremy Lamb added 16 and the Charlotte Hornets held on to beat the Orlando Magic 106-100 on Saturday night in their exhibition opener.

Hornets: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist left in the second quarter with a right shoulder injury after going to the floor following a foul in the second quarter.

Magic: Reserve big man Andrew Nicholson made the most of his 21 minutes, scoring 23 points and grabbing eight rebounds.

Rookie watch: Fifth-overall draft pick Mario Hezonja had nine points, a dunk and shot well from the outside in his debut. Charlotte rookie Frank Kaminsky had seven points and four rebounds.

Midseason form: Offseason acquisition Nicolas Batum, who Charlotte hopes can be a third scoring option, was active with 14 points and six rebounds.

Up next: Charlotte is at Miami on Sunday night. The Magic play the Heat in Louisville, Kentucky, on Wednesday night.
