TORONTO — Veteran Brooks Laich scored his first American Hockey League goal in over a decade as the Toronto Marlies doubled up the visiting Manitoba Moose 4-2 on Saturday.
Laich, who was reassigned to the Maple Leafs' AHL club earlier this month, last scored an AHL goal in the 2006 AHL playoffs as a member of the Hershey Bears, who went on to win the Calder Cup.
Byron Froese had a pair of goals, including an empty netter, and Brendan Leipsic scored the other for the Marlies (3-1-0).
Nic Petan and Kevin Czuczman supplied the offence for Winnipeg's AHL affiliate (2-2-1).
Antoine Bibeau made 28 saves for the win as Eric Comrie stopped 21-of-24 shots for the Moose.
Toronto went 1 for 4 on the power play while Manitoba scored twice on eight chances with the man advantage.
