The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Mason Marchment to a two-year, entry-level contract, the club announced on Saturday.

Marchment, 22, had been under contract with the club's AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies for the past two seasons.

A native of nearby Uxbridge, Ont., Marchment went undrafted and signed with organization after an amateur tryout following the conclusion of the Ontario Hockey League season in 2016. He split last season between the Marlies and the Leafs' ECHL affiliate, Orlando Solar Bears.

This season has been a breakout year for Marchment. In 37 games this season, Marchment has nine goals and 12 assists.

Marchment is the son of long-time NHL defenceman and former Maple Leaf, Bryan Marchment.
