Blue Jays to try for Pearce, again?

In 2014, the Baltimore Orioles designated Steve Pearce for assignment and he turned down a chance to join the Toronto Blue Jays after they claimed him on waivers.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports is reporting that the Jays could have interest in the first baseman again, this time as a right handed, platoon partner for Justin Smoak.

The 33-year-old split last season between the Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays, playing in 85 games and contributing 13 homers and 35 RBIs.

Mr. Cespedes goes to Washington?

The Washington Nationals tried to sign Yoenis Cespedes last season and they could be interested in taking another run at the outfielder now that he is on the market once again.

Chelsea James of The Washington Post spoke to Nationals GM Mike Rizzo about his team's offseason plans and though he said the team cannot spend wildly this offseason, he did not deny interest in the 31-year-old.

“We’re looking to improve the club any way we can,” Rizzo told the Washington Post. “If it makes sense for us, he improves any team he plays on.”

The lefty held opponents to a .166 batting average and a .578 OPS over 66 games with the Colorado Rockies.
