Baltimore Orioles pitcher Brian Matusz received an eight-game suspension on Monday for having a foreign substance on his arm in Saturday's game against the Miami Marlins.

In the bottom of the 12th inning with two outs and no runners on base, Jennings approached the home plate umpire and complained about some sort of substance on Matusz's catching arm. After a brief congregation at the mound between the umpires, it was determined that Matusz was in fact utilizing an illegal substance and was promptly ejected from the game.

Matusz is the second pitcher to be ejected from a game this week for using an illegal foreign substance. Brewers reliever Will Smith was suspended eight games earlier this week for being caught with an alleged mix of sunscreen and pine tar.

Matusz's suspension had been scheduled to begin Monday afternoon when the Orioles are home to face the Houston Astros.  However, he has elected to file an appeal, meaning he will be eligible to play until the appeal process is complete.
