Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - After Tuesday's 19-3 trouncing at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles, the Phillies placed starter Jerome Williams on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.

The 33-year-old righty allowed six runs while only recording two outs Tuesday in the shortest start of his career. Manny Machado led off the game with a home run, and the inning spiraled out of the control until he left after falling awkwardly covering home plate after a wild pitch.

Williams has lost four straight decisions over his last six starts. In that span, he has lasted just 27 innings with an 8.67 ERA.

To take Williams' place on the active roster, the Phillies recalled right- handed reliever Hector Neris from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 26-year-old has made two appearances for Philadelphia in 2015.
