For decades, athletes participating in the lucrative industry of college sports have not been paid. Many have gone on to challenge the system and the NCAA, and filed legal action to correct this. Meanwhile, in January 2021, a new law enabling athletes to benefit from their NIL was in place. That was the first step. But last week, the NCAA and the Power Five conferences took a gigantic step, and settled three of these lawsuits that will forever change the landscape of college sports.
