The Dallas Cowboys have made quarterback Dak Prescott an initial contract offer and are currently awaiting his counter offer, according to a report from the NFL Network's Jane Slater.

"We're very comfortable with Dak being our future," a Cowboys source told Slater, who added a deal with the quarterback is still not considered to be close at this point.

Prescott has started every game for the Cowboys since the club drafted him in the fourth round in 2016. He led the Cowboys to a 10-6 record last season, throwing for 3,885 yards and 22 touchdowns to eight interceptions.

Prescott is entering the final year of his rookie contract.
