Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson confirmed Tuesday quarterback Nick Foles will remain with the team for the upcoming season, ESPN reports.

Foles is expected to return to backup duties once regular starter Carson Wentz is fully recovered from a serious knee injury suffered late in the 2017 season.

Filling in for Wentz, Foles led the Eagles to the Super Bowl last year, and there was some debate as to whether the Eagles should trade the 29-year-old while his value is at its highest.

The Eagles will instead opt to keep Foles as a solid insurance policy for Wentz.
