DeAndre Jordan and the Dallas Mavericks have verbally agreed to a one-year deal approaching $24 million according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.

No deal can become official until July 6.

Jordan declined the final year on his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday that would have paid him just over $24 million had he opted in.

It was another strong season for Jordan last year as he averaged 12.0 points per game to go along with 15.2 rebounds, finishing second in the league to Andre Drummond at 16.0.

Jordan’s field goal percentage dipped below 70 per cent for the first time in three seasons last year, but part of that could be due to the departure of point guard Chris Paul.

Jordan did, however, improve his free throw shooting, going from 48.2 per cent in 2016-17 to 58.0 per cent last season.

The 29-year-old was selected in the second round (No. 35 overall) in the 2008 draft.

He is a one-time All-Star and a two-time member of the NBA’s All-Defensive team.
