Toronto Blue Jays top prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s comeback from a knee injury will begin on Friday.

MLB.com's Keegan Matheson reports that the 19-year-old slugger is headed to the team's affiliate in the Gulf Coast League in Dunedin, Fla.

Guerrero has been out of action since June 6 with a patellar tendon strain. Before the injury, Guerrero was on a tear, batting .407 with 11 home runs and 55 runs batted in and an OPS of 1.124 in 53 games with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats of the Eastern League.

Matheson notes that a rumoured promotion to the Jays' Triple-A affiliate Buffalo Bisons is "not a definite."
