Toronto Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman threw 2.2 innings of one-run ball in his first start this spring against big league competition as the Jays tied the Philadelphia Phillies 7-7.

Stroman gave up five hits and one walk while striking out one before departing following a two-out single from Nick Williams in the third. Of his 54 pitches, 32 were strikes.

Stroman made his spring debut last weekend against the Canadian Junior National Team, throwing two hitless innings.

"I'll be out there the fourth game of the series [against the New York Yankees] and I'll be ready to rock," Stroman said on the weekend. "I can't wait."

Reliever Seung Hwan Oh made his Blue Jays debut and retired all three batters he faced in order, throwing just seven pitches. Oh was previously unable to participate in spring training games because of issues surrounding his work visa.

"I thought he looked great," Jays manager John Gibbons said after the game. "He throws a lot of different pitches. I thought he looked sharp for his first time out so that was great to see."

"He's got a great feel for pitches. His mechanics are real nice and smooth so as long as his arm is strong."

Oh has spent the last two seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals before signing with the Blue Jays on a two-year deal this winter.

The Jays got eight hits from six different players, with Devon Travis and Teoscar Hernandez each picking up knocks. Outfielder Randal Grichuk (rib) was back in the lineup for the first time in almost two weeks and went 0-4 but reached on a throwing error in the bottom of the eighth that scored two runs.

Phillies left fielder Rhys Hoskins launched a pair of home runs – one coming off Stroman in the first inning and another off righty Luis Santos in the seventh – and drove in three.

The Blue Jays will be back in action Thursday in Dunedin against the Tampa Bay Rays.
