The 33-year-old pitched 57 innings with a 2.21 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, 62 strikeouts and 38 saves in 2015. Rodriguez is a veteran of 14 MLB seasons with the Los Angeles Angles, New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles and Brewers.

Joakim Soria was the Tigers' closer for much of the 2015 season, but was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates at the deadline when the Tigers were falling out of the playoff race.

Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported earlier Wednesday that the Tigers were interested in acquiring either Aroldis Chapman of the Cincinnati Reds or Andrew Miller of the New York Yankees.
