DALLAS — The UFC flyweight women's championship fight between title holder Nicco Montano and Valentina Shevchenko was cancelled after Montano was hospitalized with unspecified health concerns.

Montano and Shevchenko were supposed to be the co-main event with welterweight fighters Tyron Woodley and Darren Till in UFC 228 on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old Montano became the inaugural 125-pound women's champion in December. This was to be her first title defence. Montano's record is 5-2.

Shevchenko is the top-ranked contender in women's flyweight with a 15-3 record.
