Alexis Sanchez's stop-start Manchester United career has stopped again.

The club announced on Tuesday that the Chile international will be out four to six weeks with a knee injury that he picked up during the club's 3-2 win over Southampton on Saturday.

"It's a bad knee injury," interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said. "Hopefully he will recover quickly."

In the 14 months since the 30-year-old forward joined the Red Devils from Arsenal, Sanchez has only made 41 appearances in all competitions, scoring five times. He has one goal in 17 league appearances this season.

United sits fourth in the Premier League, one point above the Gunners for the final Champions League place. They visit the Emirates on Sunday. Before then, they visit Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday, looking to overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg.
