Daniel Sedin is now a member of the NHL 1,000-point club.
The longtime Vancouver Canucks forward reached the milestone Thursday night, recording three points - a goal and two assists - in a 5-3 win over the Nashville Predators to hit the 1,001-point mark in 1,251 regular-season games.
Sedin, a native of Sweden, is in his 17th season with the Canucks after being slected by the team second overall in the 1999 entry draft. He had 12 points coming into Thursday's matchup with the Predators.
Staying healthy is obviously a strong component in achieving 1,000 career points, and it's an area that the 37-year-old Sedin has thrived in. He's managed to play in fewer than 70 games in a season just twice in his past 16 seasons. He recorded a career-best 104 points in the 2010-11 NHL campaign.
Sedin joins his brother Henrik, who earned three assists Thursday and reached 1,000 career points a season ago, as well as the others that have achieved one of hockey's great scoring feats.
