Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kimmo Timonen will turn 40 in a Flyers jersey.

Philadelphia signed the veteran defenseman to a one-year contract extension on Friday, bringing him back for an eighth season in orange and black.

Timonen, who turned 39 on March 18, has 232 assists and 270 points with the Flyers since 2007 -- ranking him third all-time among Philadelphia defensemen in both stats.

The veteran Finn has 117 goals and 454 assists for 571 points in 1,092 career games with the Flyers and Predators.

He also signed a one-year contract extension on Feb. 7, 2013, and played 77 games this past season, collecting six goals and 29 assists.
