The Montreal Impact have opened training camp with a bang.

The team has sent midfielder Felipe to the New York Red Bulls for Cameroon international left back Ambroise Oyongo and midfielder Eric Alexander.

"It's a trade that helps improve our current roster by adding two quality players, while the allocation money and international spot gives us more flexibility within the salary cap and our roster" said the Impact's technical director, Adam Braz. "The decision to move Felipe was not easy as he`s been with the club since the beginning in MLS. We`d like to thank him for his time with the club over the last few years and we wish him the best of luck in the future."

Felipe, 24, was with the Impact since the club moved to MLS. In 93 appearances for the team, Felipe has scored 12 times. With a move to the Red Bulls, Felipe is reunited with former Impact manager Jesse Marsch, now boss with NYRB.

In Oyongo, the Impact get a young defender with international experience. The 23-year-old made 13 appearances for the Red Bulls last season, his first in MLS. Oyongo received his first Cameroon cap in the summer of 2013 and is currently with the team at the African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea. He scored the Indomitable Lions' only goal in a 1-1 group-stage draw with Mali last week.
