Toronto Maple Leafs right wing Brandon Kozun left the team's Friday night game against the Detroit Red Wings with a lower-body injury.

The 24-year-old took a hit from Detroit defenceman Kyle Quincey in the second period and needed to be helped off the ice. He was not putting any weight on his left leg as he was helped to the dressing room.

He did not return to the game.

Following the game, Leafs' head coach Randy Carlyle said the injury could be a high ankle sprain.

Kozun will undergo an MRI Saturday and will not travel with the team to Detroit for Saturday's re-match against the Red Wings.

The Los Angeles-born rookie has earned one assist in four games with the Leafs in 2014-15. Kozun made the Leafs' roster after a strong showing in training camp.
