Florida Panthers head coach Bob Boughner said Wednesday starting goalie Roberto Luongo is expected to miss anywhere from 2-5 weeks with his lower-body injury suffered Monday against the New York Islanders.

Luongo was injured in the second period of the team's 5-4 loss to the Islanders. After making a save with his right leg, Luongo rolled on the ice and needed help to the dressing room.

Boughner confirmed the injury was not related to his previous hip injury.

The 38-year-old Luongo had been playing well for the Panthers, posting a 6-6-1 record with a 2.62 goals against average and .928 save percentage.

James Reimer will get the bulk of the Panthers' starts while Luongo is out. Reimer, whom the team signed ahead of last season to take some of the load off Luongo, has struggled in his second season in South Florida. The 29-year-old has a 4-6-3 record with a 3.67 goals against average and .892 save percentage.

The Panthers recalled Harri Sateri from their AHL affiliate Springfield Thunderbirds to back up Reimer while Luongo is out.
