University Place, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - World No. 1 Rory McIlroy posted an even-par 70 in the third round Saturday at the U.S. Open Championship. The 2011 champ ended 54 holes at 4-over-par 214.

The reigning Open Championship and PGA Championship winner had two birdies and two bogeys in his third round.

McIlroy opened with a par at the first, then rolled in a 25-footer for birdie on No. 2. He followed that with four straight pars. McIlroy moved to plus-2 with a 6-foot birdie putt at the par-4 seventh.

After three more pars, McIlroy found the green with his approach at 11, but he 3-putted for bogey. At the 15th, his tee ball came up short in a bunker and he failed to get up and down for his par.

That bogey dropped McIlroy back to 4-over par. He parred 16 and 17, then made a 12-foot sliding par putt at the last.

McIlroy walked off the course nine strokes behind co-leaders Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed, who teed off shortly after McIlroy completed his round.
