The New York Rangers signed free agent forward Ryan Malone to a one-year, two-way contract on Thursday.

According to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, Malone will make $700,000 at the NHL level or $100,000 in the AHL.

The 34-year-old scored five goals and added 10 assists over 57 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2013-14.

The Lightning bought out the last year of his contract on June 25.

Over 641 career games with the Lightning and Pittsburgh Penguins, the American has 179 goals and 191 assists for 370 points. He was selected by the Penguins in the fourth round (115th overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
