The Detroit Red Wings announced on Thursday that prospect Anthony Mantha has a fractured right tibia and will be out of action for 6-8 weeks.

The Red Wings were set to give Mantha an opportunity to make the roster at training camp after he won the QMJHL scoring title last season with the Val D'Or Foreurs. The 19-year-old put up 57 goals and 63 assists in 57 games and was named Canadian Major Junior player of the year.

The Red Wings chose Mantha with their first-round pick (20th overall) in the 2013 Draft.
