Los Angeles Clippers centre DeAndre Jordan will opt out of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. He had one year left on his deal that would have paid him $24.1 million for the coming season.

Wojnarowski adds that this clears a pathway for Jordan to negotiate with the Dallas Mavericks.

Jordan was reportedly on the verge of a deal with Dallas in the summer of 2015 before things broke down and he re-signed with the Clippers. According to Wojnarowski, both sides have moved on and can begin negotiating a deal as of July 1.

Jordan had until 11:59 p.m. ET Friday night to opt in or out of his deal.

In 77 games last season with the Clippers, Jordan averaged 12.0 points per game to go along with a career-high 15.2 rebounds.
