Tuesday's NBA Draft Lottery is a huge deal for the New York Knicks.

Coming off six straight losing seasons, the Knicks are tied for the top chance (14 per cent) with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns at landing the No. 1 pick and in all likelihood, Duke superstar Zion Williamson.

But according to The Athletic's Shams Charania, the Knicks might have another idea if they win Tuesday's lottery.

“I’m told if the Knicks do get that No. 1 overall pick that they will shift their focus toward a potential deal for Anthony Davis," Charania told Stadium on Tuesday.

Charania also added that Kevin Knox, the franchise's first-round pick from last season, would also be in play in a potential deal. The forward struggled at times during his rookie campaign but showed flashes of his offensive potential down the stretch of the season.

"There might not be another team out there that has a better package than the Knicks if they were able to get that No. 1 overall pick," Charania added.

During All-Star weekend, Davis told Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News that the Knicks were a "great franchise." Davis also said that he doesn't care if he's traded to a big or small market as long as winning is involved.

Davis has been the subject of trade rumours ever since it was made public by his agent that Davis would not sign an extension in New Orleans and preferred to be traded elsewhere. He can become a free agent at the end of next season.

This summer is a crucial one for the Knicks, who have not made the playoffs since 2013. Following the trade of superstar Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks, the team has enough salary cap space to add two maximum free agents as of July 1. Names like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker have been thrown around as potential targets for New York.

In 56 games for the Pelicans last season, Davis averaged 25.9 points per game on 51.7 per cent shooting. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported over the weekend that the Los Angeles Lakers will also focus on acquiring the six-time All-Star.

Knicks legend Patrick Ewing will represent the team Tuesday at the lottery. Catch it LIVE tonight at 8:30pm et/5:30pm pt across the TSN Network, on TSN.ca, the TSN App and on TSN Direct.
