Seattle's season ticket drive for a prospective NHL team was a major success on Thursday.

The team sold 25,000 season-ticket deposits overall and reached 10,000 deposits in just 12 minutes.

Earlier this month the prospective ownership group, led by billionaire David Bonderman and Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer, submitted their application for an NHL franchise. The filing fee is $10 million, with $2 million of that being non-refundable, even if the application is unsuccessful.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun noted at the time the next steps for the NHL include reviewing the application, request the submission of additional information, conducting league due diligence, a review with the Executive Committee, and a recommendation to the Board.

A Seattle team would play its games out of the to-be-renovated KeyArena, the former home of the NBA's SuperSonics.

The KeyArena will hold a capacity of 17,500 once renovated, so not all of the 25,000 who put down deposits Thursday will receive season tickets. According to TSN's Farhan Lalji, some will receive partial season tickets, based on when their order was received. In addition, 5,000 of the deposits received on Thursday were for club seats.

The Vegas Golden Knights, who are currently playing their inaugural season, paid a $500 million expansion fee. The league's Board of Governors said that the cost for Seattle would be $650 million, with potential play beginning in the 2020-21 season.
