TORONTO — C.J. Smith scored a hat trick and added an assist, while Scott Wedgewood turned aside 26 shots as the Rochester Americans pummelled the Toronto Marlies 5-1 in American Hockey League action Saturday.

Kevin Porter and Victor Olofsson also got on the scoresheet for the Americans (23-13-2).

Trevor Moore scored the lone goal for the Marlies (19-15-5), the AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Michael Garteig made 29 saves in a losing effort for Toronto.

The Marlies were scoreless in three power-play chances. The Americans went 3 for 7 with the man advantage.
