ABC news has aired a special documentary on the life and legacy of the late Kobe Bryant both on and off the court titled Superstar: Kobe Bryant.

Ahead of Bryant’s 43rd birthday on August 23 and Kobe Bryant Day on August 24 (in honour of his numbers 8 and 24), ABC News has revisited his life as part of their Superstar series.

The one-hour documentary includes new interviews from players he faced throughout his legendary career and older interviews pulled from archives so Bryant himself would be the principal narrator of the commemorative short on his life.

Although much of the documentary chronicles the Black Mamba’s illustrious career from a young gifted athlete to a Los Angeles Lakers superstar and 5-time NBA champion, the special also focuses on his life away from the court such as winning an Oscar and parenting and coaching his late daughter, Gianna.

The documentary follows his triumphs, failures, controversial moments from his personal life and his untimely death that shocked the world.
Although ABC News and Hulu are unavailable in Canada, Superstar: Kobe Bryant is still available to Canadian viewers through Fubo TV.
