1. JEREMY LIN (Raptors): The Toronto point guard is struggling with his new squad so far. He has yet to make a three-point shot and is 1-for-13 from the field in his last two games. It looks like Lin is still figuring out his new teammates and role. I think that once Fred VanVleet is healthy that he’ll settle in nicely and fit well. I like Lin’s playmaking ability, creativity and toughness. I’m confident that he’ll hit his groove.

2. AUSTIN RIVERS (Rockets): Rivers has found a good role with his new team. He gives Houston grit, savvy, shot-making ability and a sound defensive presence. He plays hard and with a lot of emotion. I like his makeup and his competitive motor.

3. LUKE KENNARD (Pistons): Hitting his stride and playing the way Detroit hoped he would when they drafted him in the lottery out of Duke. He’s being so much more aggressive hunting down his shot and firing it up with increased confidence. Has a sound feel for the offensive expectations and moves off the ball decisively.

4. MYLES TURNER (Pacers): Turner can really impact the game at the five spot when he gets it going. He’s a terrific athlete with significant bounce and length. He was simply dominant Tuesday night versus the Bulls, with 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks. He anchors their defence and makes it awfully tough to score on them in the paint. His consistency still needs to improve but I’m seeing a lot more positive nights every year he plays.

5. CLIPPERS (37-29): They’re only a 1/2 game back from Utah for the sixth seed in the West. Who would have expected that after trading Tobias Harris at the trade deadline? I love the job coach Doc Rivers and his staff has done with this group the entire year. No excuses, just a consistent professional daily approach. The sad reality is that as L.A.’s second team they don’t get their just due with the Lakers circus garnering all the attention. Instead of worrying what’s wrong with the Lakers how about focusing on what’s right with the Clips? They deserve a lot of respect. They’ve earned it.
