Detroit, MI  - Detroit Tigers pitcher David Price has a mild right hamstring strain and might not miss a start.

Price was hurt during the seventh inning of Friday's game against Kansas City when he stepped on a bat while running to back up home plate.

Umpire Alan Porter had tossed the bat of Kansas City's Alex Gordon out of the way for a potential play at the plate and Price stepped on it with his right foot. After trying to throw a couple of pitches, Price left the contest. He had allowed a career-high 13 hits in 6 1/3 innings of a no decision, as the Tigers scored in the ninth to earn a 6-5 win on Friday.

Price is next slated to start Thursday against Minnesota, but the Tigers have an off day Monday, which would allow manager Brad Ausmus to keep the remainder of his rotation on regular rest and just move Price back to Saturday in St. Louis to give the lefty a few extra days to rest the hamstring.

In seven starts this season, Price has a record of 3-1 with a 3.30 ERA.
