Bernier Off to New Jersey

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports all signs point to Jonathan Bernier signing with the New Jersey Devils today after he was unable to reach a deal with the Carolina Hurricanes, who acquired his rights last week.

LeBrun adds that Jaroslav Halak is expected to sign with the Vancouver Canucks and goaltender James Reimer could wind up with either the San Jose Sharks or Vegas Golden Knights.

Kings Bringing Back Athanasiou

The Los Angeles Kings are closing on a one-year deal with Andreas Athanasiou, TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports.

The 26-year-old had 10 goals and 23 points in 47 games with the Kings this season.

Ready to go?

TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie reports that though deals can't be signed until Noon ET, several appear to be ready and waiting for that time.

While not fully guaranteed, McKenzie expects to see the following moves on Wednesday:

Ryan Suter to the Dallas Stars
Zach Parise to the New York Islanders
Michael Bunting to the Toronto Maple Leafs
David Savard to the Montreal Canadiens
Jaden Schwartz to the Seattle Kraken
Tony DeAngelo to the Carolina Hurricanes
Jaroslav Halak and Luke Schenn to the Vancouver Canucks
Jake McCabe to the Chicago Blackhawks
Andrew Cogliano to the San Jose Sharks
Zach Hyman to the Edmonton Oilers
David Rittich to the Nashville Predators

McKenzie expects to see serval short-term deals on Wednesday worth around $1 million.

Get Kraken

The Seattle Kraken are expected to sign St. Louis Blues forward Jaden Schwartz to a multi-year deal worth between $5 million-$6 million once finalized, TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports.

Latest on the Avs

The Colorado Avalanche are still talking to Philipp Grubauer's camp, but have yet to reach a deal with the goaltender set to become a UFA at Noon ET.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports Darcy Kuemper, via trade from Arizona, or free agent Frederik Andersen are among the options for Colorado in net.

Re-Signing Gabriel Landeskog also signals the end of Brandon Saad's time in Colorado. LeBrun expects serious interest in Saad today.

Panthers Lock Up

The Florida Panther are signing breakout forward Carter Verhaeghe to a three-year contract extension worth just over $4 million per season, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.

Verhaeghe, 25, was signed through next season at a cap hit of $1 million. He had 18 goals and 36 points in 43 games this season.

Hurricanes Add DeAngelo

The Carolina Hurricanes are expected to sign free agent defenceman Tony DeAngelo to a one-year, $1 million on Wednesday, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.

DeAngelo, who last played for Ranger in January, was bought out by New York earlier this month with one-year left on his contract at a $4.8 million cap hit.

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reported in April that the 25-year-old defenceman rejected the Rangers offer to mutually terminate his contract, instead electing to be bought out this summer.

Earlier this season, Rangers general manager Jeff Gorton said DeAngelo had played his last game for the team after he went unclaimed on waivers following a reported physical altercation with goaltender Alexandar Georgiev on Jan. 30, according to the New York Post's Larry Brooks.

DeAngelo had one assist over six games this season with the Rangers.

Over 206 career games with the Arizona Coyotes and Rangers, DeAngelo has 24 goals and 82 assists.

Hamilton Headed to New Jersey?

As of late Tuesday night, the New Jersey Devils were the favourites to land defenceman Dougie Hamilton, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger said on Insider Trading that Hamilton could be looking at a max term and big dollars after Seth Jones signed an eight-year, $76 million contract with the Chicago Blackhawks last week.

Getzlaf Coming Home?

It appears Regina native Ryan Getzlaf could be returning to Canada after spending his 16-year playing career with the Anaheim Ducks.

The Edmonton Oiler and Montreal Canadiens have interest, though they could face competition for the 36-year-old from the Dallas Star and Boston Bruins, TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports.

"It is absolutely a possibility if he does indeed leave Anaheim," LeBrun said Tuesday on Insider Trading. "Among the teams, I’m told, that would be potential fits for him the Edmonton Oilers top the list. The Montreal Canadiens are in there and also Boston and Dallas would be potential opportunities for Getzlaf."

"This would be a very emotional decision if he does leave Anaheim but would be interesting for sure to see him in either an Oilers or Canadiens uniform."

What's Next for the Oilers?

The Oilers are expected to finalize a multi-year contract extension for defenceman Tyson Barrie today, which could put Ethan Bear's future with the team in doubt.

TSN's Ryan Rishaug believes the Oilers will explore the trade market on Bear if the team feels they can land a shutdown defenceman in free agency. He's unsure what the return would be, though the Oilers have needs in their top nine forward group and at goaltender.

Bear, 24, had two goals and eight points in 43 games this season.
