The St. Louis Blues have ruled out defenceman Jay Bouwmeester for the remainder of the season due to a left-hip injury.

Bouwmeester is expected to be sidelined for four-to-six months due to the injury, keeping him out of the playoffs, should the Blues qualify.

The 34-year-old has two goals and five assists while averaging 20:08 of ice time in 35 games this season. He missed the first six weeks of the season due to an ankle injury.

Also on Monday, the Blues announced forward Scottie Upshall suffered an MCL sprain against the Dallas Stars on Saturday and will be out at least four weeks.

Upshall has seven goals and 18 points in 61 games this season. The 34-year-old is averaging 10:59 of ice time per game this season.
