Once clearly wasn’t enough for Devlin DeFrancesco as he returns to the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona this weekend (26th-27th January) for his second go at the world-famous season opener.

Showcasing his undeniable versatility and adaptability the Canadian-Italian launched on to the endurance racing scene last year debuting at last year’s Daytona, swapping from single seaters without so much as a hiccup. Placing an impressive 6th on debut, Devlin returns to the famous circuit with JDC Motorsports alongside Misha Goikhberg, Tristan Vautier and Rubens Barrichello with his eyes set firmly on the prize.

Although there is a sense of familiarity for Devlin returning to the Daytona International Speedway, located not all that far from his Florida home. This year’s race offers up a brand-new challenge for the 19-year-old with the car changing from an Oreca LMP2 to a Dpi Cadillac. Getting first taste of the new machinery at the ROAR earlier this month Devlin hit the ground running ending the sessions well within the top 10 in P7.

With the key to success at Daytona being consistency, Devlin and the team have pulled out all the stops with a gruelling training programme to ensure everyone is fully prepared for what is set to be a challenging but hopefully rewarding weekend of racing.

“The team are taking on the challenge quite well,” he continued.

“It’s obviously a big challenge but we’re all up for it and as we know, to pull out a really strong result you don’t really need to be the quickest over one lap, you need to be consistent, do good driver changes, and not let any of the important elements drop.”

With another year of racing under his belt, and more experience of endurance racing gathered from his participation in Petit Le Mans late last year, Devlin is relishing the challenge of his second Daytona.

‘I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve put in a a lot of work over the winter, training in the gym and also more on the simulator, so I’m really excited for 2019.
