TSN is a proud partner of Kraft Heinz Project Play, which believes places to play are critical to the future of communities from coast to coast. Through past programs, the team behind Kraft Heinz Project Play has witnessed firsthand how places to play positively impact communities. They are where neighbours come together for celebrations. They are places to experience important life moments, and to learn the fundamentals of teamwork, commitment and perseverance.

Many of Fort McMurray’s places to play have been damaged or completely ruined. As residents start to return to their homes and reunite with their neighbours and neighbourhoods, Kraft Heinz Project Play wants to help them rebuild for the future.

In partnership with the community, Kraft Heinz Project Play will help to fix and reconstruct five locations directly affected by the wildfires and nominated by residents of Fort McMurray and neighbouring communities. Each of the following locations will receive $25,000:

Clearwater Horse Club, the city’s only public horse facility, lost more than half of its 39 barns, and 100 horses have been displaced from the facility.
Built less than two years ago, Fort McMurray Bike Park, a favourite of local mountain bike and BMX enthusiasts, experienced damage across a quarter of its grounds.

Fort McMurray Golf Club’s (home to some of the region’s top amateur golfers) proshop and storage facilities are no longer standing, and its maintenance building is significantly damaged.

Beacon Hill and Abasand, two lively neighbourhoods that experienced drastic damage to their local places of play – from playgrounds, to soccer fields, baseball diamonds and skateboard parks.

This funding commitment is separate from the Kraft Heinz Project Play program. The top 4 finalists of Kraft Heinz Project Play will be announced on Friday, July 8th during CFL ON TSN’s coverage of Calgary @ Ottawa beginning at 7 p.m. ET.

“To the residents of Fort McMurray, we’re constantly inspired by how you have united with fellow friends, families and neighbours to support each other with great strength, spirit and hope,” said Joanna Milroy, Marketing Director, Kraft Heinz Project Play. “We wish each and every resident a safe journey back home, and look forward to seeing your community come together to revitalize your places to play.”
