Former Edmonton Oilers general manager Craig MacTavish isn't going anywhere.

Peter Chiarelli, the Oilers current President of Hockey Operations and GM, told the Edmonton Sun that MacTavish will remain with the team as the "No. 2 guy," but hasn't decided on an official title as of yet.

“He’ll be No. 2 in all aspects,” said Chiarelli while in Prague at the IIHF World Championship. “He’ll be my eyes and ears in all areas. I want to have strong people with strong opinions.”

Chiarelli, who was fired by the Boston Bruins earlier this month, says MacTavish was "upset" by the demotion at first, but is happy he decided to stay in Edmonton.

“I explained how much I’d like to have him in the mix and I’m glad he’s come around and decided to stay with us,” said Chiarelli.
