OSHAWA, Ont. - Dawn and Mike McEwen defeated Lisa Weagle and John Epping 6-4 in the final of the Wall Grain Mixed Doubles Classic on Tuesday afternoon.

The husband and wife team from Winnipeg scored one in the final end to secure the victory at the Oshawa Curling Club.

It was the first loss of the competition for Weagle, from Ottawa, and Epping, from Toronto. The McEwen team also had a 6-1 record.

The mixed doubles format will make its Olympic debut at the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
