The Toronto Blue Jays have reportedly reached out to free-agent pitcher Jake Arrieta according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe. Cafardo names the Blue Jays as one of five teams that have contacted Arrieta's agent Scott Boras, along with the Colorado Rockies, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, and Texas Ranges.

Arrieta has been a member of the Chicago Cubs since 2013 and went 14-10 with a 3.53 ERA and 163 strikeouts in 168.1 IP last season.

The 2015 National League Cy Young winner is considered to be one of the top starting pitchers in this year's free-agent class.

Toronto has four established starters under contract for next season, Marcus Stroman, Aaron Sanchez, Marco Estrada, and JA Happ. Both Estrada and Happ are free-agents after the 2018 season.
