Buffalo Sabres star Jack Eichel will not suit up for the United States at the upcoming World Championship, according to a report from Buffalo NHL correspondent Joe Yerdon.

Eichel said he has to get his body right, per Yerdon, after playing 67 games for the Sabres in his third NHL season. The 21-year-old missed more than a month this season with a high ankle sprain.\

Eichel, chosen second overall in 2015, set career highs this season with 25 goals and 39 assists. The Sabres finished last in league standings with a 25-45-12 record.

Montreal Canadiens forward Alex Galchenyuk will also not play for the Americans at the world hockey championship, according to TSN's John Lu.  The 24-year-old scored 19 goals and added 32 assists over 82 games with the Habs in 2017-18, his sixth year with the team.
