The Toronto Blue Jays have traded outfielder Dwight Smith Jr. to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for $500,000 in international signing bonus pool space.

Smith Jr. hit two homers and collected eight RBIs in 35 games last season with the Blue Jays at the major-league level.  He also appeared in 85 games with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons and hit .268 with six homers and 42 RBIs.

The 26-year-old was designated for assignment earlier this week by the Blue Jays to make room for Clay Buchholz on the 40-man roster.
