Marcus Semien has set a single-season record.

Semien hit his 44th home run of the season on Wednesday to set a new MLB record for home runs hit by a second baseman in one season.

The 30-year-old, who was named to his first All-Star team this summer, also has a .267 batting average with 101 RBIs.

Semien's one-year, $18 million contract expires at the end of the 2021 season and he will become a free agent this winter.
