The Edmonton Oilers assigned forwards Ryan Spooner and Kailer Yamamoto to the AHL's Bakersfield Condors on Wednesday.

Spooner cleared waivers on Tuesday, but dressed in the Oilers' 3-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, failing to post a point in 6:56 of ice time.

Spooner, who was acquired in November from the New York Rangers for Ryan Strome, has two goals and three points in 25 games since joining the Oilers. He carries a $3.1 million cap hit through next season, with the Rangers retaining $900,000.

Yamamoto, 20, also dressed in Tuesday's loss to the Red Wings, posting a minus-1 rating in 7:27 of ice time. He has one goal and two points in 17 games with the Oilers this season.

Selected 17th overall by the Oilers in the 2017 NHL Draft, Yamamoto has four goals and eight points in 11 games with the Condors this season.
