The National Hockey League announced the 36 players joining the previously named quartet of captains for the 2016 NHL All-Star Game to be played on January 31 in Nashville.

Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban, Leo Komarov of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators blueliner Erik Karlsson, Calgary Flames' pair Johnny Gaudreau and Mark Giordano, Dustin Byfuglien of the Winnipeg Jets, the Edmonton Oilers' Taylor Hall and Daniel Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks comprise the contingent of All-Stars from Canadian teams.

Under the new All-Star format, four teams - one representing each division - will compete in a three-game, three-on-three tournament.

Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr, Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin and John Scott of the Arizona Coyotes were elected as team captains in fan voting announced earlier this week.

The Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals and Nashville Predators are tied with the most selections with three each.

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was not named to the Metropolitan Division team.
