Rajon Rondo's trade to the Cleveland Cavaliers is almost completed.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports the Cavs have agreed to send guard Denzel Valentine to the Los Angeles Lakers to acquire Rondo.

The Lakers are then expected to waive the 28-year-old Valentine to clear a roster spot.

Rondo, 35, is in his second stint with the Lakers. A four-time All-Star, Rondo has appeared in 18 games for the team this season, averaging 3.1 points on .324 shooting, 3.7 assists and 2.7 boards over 16.1 minutes a night.

The Kentucky product has appeared in 936 career games over 16 seasons with the Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Pelicans, Chicago Bulls, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics.

A native of Louisville, Rondo has won two NBA titles.

Valentine is in his fifth season out of Michigan State and first with the Cavs, having played his first four seasons with the Bulls.

In 22 games this season, he's averaging 2.9 points and 1.7 boards over 9.3 minutes a night.
