Toronto Maple Leafs forward Andreas Johnsson left Thursday night win over the Los Vegas Golden Knights in the second period due to a leg injury.

Johnsson sustained the injury in a collision with Golden Knights defenceman Brayden McNabb. McNabb received two minutes for kneeing on the play. The 24-year-old Johnsson scored his 15th goal of the season earlier in the game.

Leafs forward Auston Matthews said after the game that Johnsson avoided serious injury.

"Fortunately it's nothing too serious," Matthews said. "He's playing so well for us."

"We hope he's OK," head coach Mike Babcock added. "They'll be doing everything precautionary, we'll look at it tomorrow and see what goes on. (Tyler) Ennis is dying to get in anyway, I think."

Johnsson, who sits tied for second in rookie scoring in the NHL, has 15 goals and 31 points in 50 games with the Maple Leafs this season.

Ennis, 29, last played on Dec. 22 when he broke his ankle against the New York Rangers. The winger has seven goals and 11 points in 33 games this season.
