Nordine Taleb has a new opponent for UFC Fight Night in Ottawa on Saturday, May 4th following his opponent Siyar Bahadurzada’s withdrawal from their bout due to injury.

UFC officials confirmed that Windsor, Ontario-based BTC Fight Promotions super lightweight (165 lbs.) champion Kyle Prepolec will step in to face Taleb on just over a week’s notice in a welterweight bout.

The gritty Prepolec has been competing on the Canadian regional scene for over 10 years and is a dangerous competitor on the feet, which will suit Taleb fine, as the Tristar Gym product has long had a reputation for engaging in stand-up wars.

Prepolec is coming off of a win over UFC veteran Cody Pfister in his previous outing last month and has also faced UFC star Kevin Lee and former Canadian UFC fighter Alex Ricci over the years.

The perpetually tough Taleb has suffered two straight losses inside the distance and will look to reverse his fortunes against the UFC newcomer.

The bout will be part of the Ottawa card’s late preliminary bouts, which air at 6:00 pm ET on TSN5 on Saturday, May 4.
