The UFC is putting together a mega show months before UFC 200.
As first reported by the Bleacher Report's Jeremy Botter, sources say Conor McGregor will face Rafael Dos Anjos for the lightweight championship and Holly Holm will defend her women's bantamweight title against Miesha Tate at UFC 197 on Saturday, March 5 in Las Vegas.
The show would be the perfect storm for all four fighters.
McGregor captured the featherweight crown with a 13-second knockout of former pound-for-pound king Jose Aldo at UFC 194 on Dec. 12. He has long talked about competing in two weight classes and capped off his remarkable rise to a UFC championship by confirming he would not vacate his title at 145 pounds in his quest for lightweight gold. It is expected he will defend the featherweight belt against Franke Edgar at UFC 200 on July 9.
Rafael Dos Anjos is coming off his first title defence, a 66-second victory over Donald Cerrone at UFC on Fox 17 on Dec. 17, and warned McGregor to stay out of "my division."
Holly Holm shocked the world at UFC 193 in November with her knockout of Ronda Rousey to become only the second women's bantamweight champion in UFC history. It was originally announced that Holm would sit on the sidelines while Rousey recovered in order to facilitate an immediate rematch, despite Holm's disdain for the idea of not fighting in the interim. She gets exactly what she wants in the No. 1 contender Tate.
As for Tate, a title fight appears to be a reward for her patience. She was passed over for a trilogy fight with Rousey in favour of Holm and hasn't fought since July 2015.
Botter also tweeted there are conflicting reports of the potential venue. It will either be at the MGM Grand Garden Arena or Mandalay Bay Events Center - both in Las Vegas.
