Dominick Cruz will put his bantamweight title on the line in a much anticipated fight with Cody Garbrandt in the co-main event of UFC 207, the promotion announced on Monday.
This will be Cruz’ second defence of his title since he regained it with a victory over T.J. Dillashaw in January.
He defeated Urijah Faber via unanimous decision at UFC 199 in June.
The 31-year-old defended the title twice during his first run as champion, before being forced to vacate this belt due to injuries.
Garbrandt has earned his way into the title shot with an impressive 10-0 MMA record that includes five straight wins since joining the UFC.
His most recent victory was an impressive, first round TKO victory over Takeya Mizugaki at UFC 202.
After his victory at the August PPV, Garbrandt called out the champion who was live on the broadcast at the time.
UFC 207 will be headlined by the return of Ronda Rousey as she challenges Amanda Nunes, who will be making the first defence of her bantamweight championship.
